RESOLUTION NO. 1259

 

 

            A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY, MARYLAND ACCEPTING A DONATION OF TWO (2) LAPTOP COMPUTERS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO USE IN ITS EFFORTS TO ENSURE THE EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE DELIVERY OF FIRE, RESCUE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES, THEREBY IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY AND THE SALISBURY FIRE DISTRICT.

 

            WHEREAS, the City of Salisbury Fire Department desired to improve its capabilities to provide arriving personnel with critical electronic data that would assist in the evaluation and mitigation of emergency incidents efficiently and effectively; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of Salisbury Fire Department, successfully participated in a funding grant application process submitted to Choptank Electrical Trust, Inc. that permitted the department to acquire equipment not immediately available through the department’s fiscal budget; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Choptank Electrical Trust, Inc. purchased and donated two (2) portable laptop computers for use by the Fire Department in its emergency response operations; and,

 

            WHEREAS, both the Fire Chief and the Mayor have recommended that the City accept this donation; and,

 

            WHEREAS, City policy requires that such a gift can only be accepted with the approval of City Council,

 

            NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Salisbury accepts this gift and expresses its sincere appreciation to the members and directors of the Choptank Electrical Trust, Inc. for their generous contribution that will further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided by the Fire Department to the citizens of the City and the Salisbury Fire District.

 

            THE ABOVE RESOLUTION was introduced and duly passed at a meeting of the Council of the City of Salisbury, Maryland held on Monday, June 20, 2005, and is to become effective immediately upon adoption.
