Salisbury "Crossroad of Delmarva"

RESOLUTION NO. 1263

A RESOLUTION of the Council of the City of Salisbury authorizing the application of Chapter 205 of the Wicomico County Code to taxicabs operated within the City limits of the City of Salisbury.

WHEREAS, Section 205-3 of the Wicomico County Code provides that Chapter 205, regarding the regulation of the taxicab industry, may be made applicable within the corporate limits of any municipality which so requests, provided that an appropriate agreement has first been executed between the County and the Municipality;

WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 670, effective October 11, 1999, the Council of the City of Salisbury authorized the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office to regulate and enforce the taxi industry within the limits of the City of Salisbury, Maryland, in accordance with Wicomico County Code, Chapter 205;

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Salisbury desires to clarify that the provisions of Chapter 205 of the Wicomico County Code apply to all taxicabs operating within the City limits of the City of Salisbury and approve the agreement made between the County and the City with regard to regulation and enforcement;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Salisbury, Maryland, that the provisions of Chapter 205 of the Wicomico County Code apply within the City limits of the City of Salisbury and that the agreement made between Wicomico County and the City of Salisbury on ______________, with regard to the regulation and enforcement of the taxicab industry is approved.
