Resolution No. 1277
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY ACCEPTING STATE GRANT FUNDS AWARDED THROUGH THE MARYLAND STATE POLICE CEASE FIRE COUNCIL TO ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY IN SALISBURY, MARYLAND.
WHEREAS, these state funds were awarded by the Maryland Cease Fire Council for programs which address proactive efforts in reducing incidents of violent crimes involving handguns;
WHEREAS, the use of these funds will provide reimbursement for Personnel (overtime) ($26,000), Travel (personnel training) ($7,500), Contractual Services (DNA testing by a private lab) ($10,000) and Equipment (Wireless Mobile Subscriber Unit, Miscellaneous IP Video Camera Related Equipment, Software license for video cameras, IP Video Surveillance Cameras and Fixed Subscriber Units) ($33,600) to be used by officers assigned to the Salisbury Police Department Project Exile;
WHEREAS, this program will specifically address firearms reduction efforts, thus enhancing the quality of life in Salisbury, Maryland.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY, MARYLAND that the awarded State grant funds in the amount of $77,100 be accepted and used to address proactive efforts in reducing incidents of violent crimes involving handguns.
THIS RESOLUTION was duly passed at a meeting of the Council of the City of Salisbury held on ___________________, 2005, and is to become effective immediately upon adoption.
