RESOLUTION NO. 1344

A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY, MARYLAND, ESTABLISHING A FEE FOR REGISTRATION AND INSPECTION OF RENTAL UNITS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DWELLING UNIT REGISTRATION TO PERMIT FOUR UNRELATED PERSONS TO OCCUPY A SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING IF THE DWELLING WAS IN RENTAL STATUS PRIOR TO DECEMBER 16, 2002.

WHEREAS, the City Council passed Ordinance No. 1961 to govern the occupancy of single family dwellings in R - 5, R - 8, and R - 10 zoning districts; and

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1961 establishes a registration and inspection procedure for property owners wishing to maintain an occupancy limit of four unrelated persons in a dwelling unit; and

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1961 requires the City Council to set a registration fee which must be paid to the City of Salisbury on or before March 1, 2006.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salisbury City Council approves a one time registration fee of $250 per dwelling unit for property owners to request an occupancy limit of four unrelated persons in a dwelling unit if the dwelling unit was in rental status prior to December 16, 2002.

THE ABOVE RESOLUTION was introduced and duly passed at the meeting of the City Council of Salisbury, Maryland held on ______ day of ________________, 2005, and is to become effective immediately upon adoption.
