AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY TO EXTEND AN EXISTING MORATORIUM ON THE CONVERSION OF SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCES TO RENTAL USE IN ORDER TO ALLOW THE STUDY OF THE ISSUE AND THE POSSIBLE IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW LEGISLATION TO ADDRESS SAME.
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Salisbury enacted Ordinance No. 1851 on July 8, 2002, creating a three-month moratorium on the conversion of all single-family residential dwellings into rental unit use;
WHEREAS additional time is required for further study of the problem, and the City Council deems that more time is necessary for this purpose.
NOW THEREFORE, be it enacted and ordained by the City of Salisbury, Maryland, as follows:
1. The moratorium within the City of Salisbury on the conversion of all single-family residential dwellings into rental use as defined in Ordinance No. 1851 shall continue for an additional three (3) months.
2. All of the definitions, terms, conditions and penalties set forth in Ordinance No. 1851 are hereby incorporated herein.
AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED AND ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY, MARYLAND, that the changes and amendment set forth in this Ordinance shall take effect upon final passage.
THIS ORDINANCE was introduced and read at a meeting of the Council of the City of Salisbury held on the 9th day of September, 2002, and thereafter, a statement of the substance of the ordinance having been published as required by law, in the meantime, was finally passed by the Council on the 23rd day of September, 2002.
