ORDINANCE NO. 1949
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY TO AMEND SECTION 10.04.060 (CHARGES FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS) OF THE SALISBURY MUNICIPAL CODE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING CHARGES FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS AND PROVIDING FOR CHANGING CHARGES FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS BY RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, the amounts of fines are inadequate to compel adherence to Title 10 of the “Vehicles and Traffic Code,” Section 10.04.060 (charges for parking violations);
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Mayor and City Council that some citizens habitually refuse to adhere to parking regulations adopted by the City of Salisbury;
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have determined that it is in the interest of public safety that parking violations be enforced and charges for said violations be increased.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY, MARYLAND, in regular session as follows:
1) That Title 10 “Vehicles and Traffic Code,” Section 10.04.060 (B) “Charges for Parking Violations” be deleted in its entirety; and amended so that any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a municipal infraction/misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $100.00, which amount may be designated from time to time, by Resolution of the City Council.
THIS ORDINANCE was introduced and read at a meeting of the Council of the City of Salisbury, Maryland, held on the ___ day of ____________, 2005, and having been published as required by law, in the meantime, was finally passed by the Council on the ____ day of ________, 2005.
