ORDINANCE NO. 1964

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY ESTABLISHING MINIMUM PLUMBING/GAS STANDARDS WHICH PROVIDE REASONABLE SAFEGUARDS FOR SANITATION TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC HEALTH AGAINST THE HAZARDS OF INADEQUATE, DEFECTIVE OR UNSANITARY INSTALLATIONS; AND REPEALING EXISTING ORDINANCE NUMBER 1492, DATED APRIL 9, 1990 AS AMENDED (PRESENT PLUMBING CODE).

 

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Salisbury has incorporated the 1990 Practical Plumbing Code with amendments in the Salisbury City Code and it is now in need of revision; and

WHEREAS, the State of Maryland has adopted the Maryland State Plumbing Code which incorporates the National Standard Plumbing Code to better serve the plumbing needs of the State; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Building, Housing and Zoning and the Plumbing Inspector have reviewed the State Plumbing Code and Regulations and have determined it is in the interest of the City of Salisbury that the City Council adopt the Maryland State Plumbing Code to better serve the plumbing needs of the City of Salisbury.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALISBURY, that Section 15.32.010 be deleted in its entirety and replaced to read as follows:

 

 

Section 15.32.010.  Adoption of Plumbing Code


The Maryland State Plumbing/Gas Code - COMAR 09.20.01, which is hereby incorporated by reference, be, and is hereby adopted as the Plumbing Code of the City of Salisbury in the State of Maryland, for the control of buildings and structures as herein provided, and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of the Code of Salisbury are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part thereof.  The Plumbing Code so adopted is known as the “Salisbury Practical Plumbing Code 2005.”

THIS ORDINANCE was introduced and read at a meeting of the Council of the City of Salisbury held on the _____ day of ___________________, 2005, and thereafter, a statement of the substance of the Ordinance having been published as required by law, in the meantime, was finally passed by the Council on the _____ day of ____________________, 2005.
