Our Mission. The Department of Public Works provides responsive, quality, and full-spectrum of public works capability and recreational facilities to our 23,000 Salisbury residents, businesses, and visitors. 

Our Organization. The Department’s 159 people are organized into four main functional areas which are:

Our Strategic Plan.   We translate our vision into action through our Strategic Management Plan.  Our plan uses Michael Kaplan's Balanced Scorecard methodology to provide a well balanced and comprehensive approach to setting objectives and management of our strategic objectives.

How to Contact Us    

For Emergencies due to inclement weather such as street flooding, snow, ice, etc.

  • Normal Business Days from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM at (410) 548-3177.

  • Holidays, weekends or normal business days after 4:30 PM or before 8 AM - Please call the Police Department at (410) 548-3165.

For non-emergencies:

  • Center's Location:   Lake Street and Mack Avenue, Salisbury, MD 21801

  • Services Provided:  Trash Pick-up, Bulk Pick-up, Recycling, Water Shut-off, Street Maintenance, Snow Removal, Pothole Repair, Storm Drain Maintenance, Carpenters, Vehicle Maintenance, Traffic Control Devices (Street Lights, Traffic Lights, Signage, and Street Markings), Park and Playground Maintenance, and Landscaping.

Water and Sewer Branch  - Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 12 PM & 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM

  • Center's Location:  404 W. Isabella Street, Salisbury, MD 21801

  • Services Provided:  Water Pressure and Quality Problems, Hydrant Maintenance, Sewer Drainage, Back-ups and Odor Problems, and Storm Drain Maintenance.

Engineering Division  - Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 to 4:30 PM

  • Engineering's Location:  Room 202, Government Office Building, 125 North Division Street, Salisbury, MD 21801

  • Services Provided:  City Park Reservations, Development Plan Reviews, Initiate Water, Sewer, and Trash Service, Certify Deeds, Storm Water Management, City Surveyor, and City Engineering.
